The research problem lies in the increasing rate of TikTok use among children in late childhood and their exposure to various contents that differ in their nature whether positive or negative , as videos spread on TikTok include dangerous challenges , privacy violations and content that contains psychological disorders such as eating disorders and anxiety .
This highlights the importance of the role of media literacy in helping the children evaluate the content they are exposed to on TikTok and classify it, which is what this research seeks to test by conducting an experimental study using the pretest-posttest design on a single group of children aged 12 years old to indicate the impact of an educational lecture given to the children about (Types of content presented on tiktok , their pros and cons, and their potential effects) on their level of awareness of the nature of the content published on tiktok , and their ability to classify and evaluate  it into positive and negative.
The content that the children were exposed to included videos featuring behaviors such as (Bullying, dangerous challenges, pranks, privacy violations) to measure children’s ability to distinguish these behaviors, correctly evaluate them, classify them, and measure their level of awareness before and after the intervention .
These videos were selected from the pages most followed by the children in the research sample, based on a former survey conducted by the researcher
